Hello, faithful donors to the CTK Blessing!

Some of you have supported Christ the King local missions for years; others just gave for the first time! Every dollar becomes part of the story God is writing as His love pours through CTK Bellingham into the community around us. Our approach to local missions is to be a church that gives of both our time and our resources in combination to bless our neighbors in need.  We find that gives Jesus the most access to shape our hearts and our minds in His ways of sacrificial love. Here are a few examples:

The Blessing helped 60 middle/high schoolers afford to be part of GoCamp, where 75 adult volunteers created space for 180 students to encounter Jesus

At this point in the season, the Foodshare & Farm volunteers are harvesting about 9,000 pounds of fresh produce a week and delivering that and 450 donated nonperishable items to 17 food banks and meal programs…every week!

CTK met with the Lighthouse Mission, one of our Community Partners, to find out the best ways (financial and pastoral) to invest in the support and development of their staff

This season, Response Team service projects combined $20,000 in materials with 2000 volunteer hours to accomplish 10 different projects for our community partners

Many of you give to the Blessing because you’re involved with our local missions efforts. If you haven’t yet experienced these meaningful connections for yourself, it’s not too late to step onto the mission field and join other CTK’ers in putting the Blessing funds to work in our community.  We have three unique opportunities to serve coming up in Oct and Nov. You’ll find more info and sign up links at ctkserves.org/serve. Could you see yourself helping foster kids enjoy a holiday meal with their families? Would you be able to help transform the CTK commons into a safe space for Trick or Treating? It is a beautiful thing to volunteer, but I would say there’s something uniquely beautiful about serving together as the body of Christ.

As we approach our 26th annual Blessing offering this holiday season, we wanted to give you a sense of CTK’s collective investment in local missions. We also thought some of you might be interested in how we operate the Local and Global Missions funds. Because of the sporadic nature of freewill offerings, the donations in one year set the budget for the following year. About ⅔ of that giving is received during Blessing Month (Nov-Dec).

  • 2024 Blessing Donations - $322,000 (thank you Lord!!)

  • 2025 Blessing Strategic Plan for Investment - $335,000

  • 2025 Blessing Donations (Jan to Aug) - $105,000

We believe wholeheartedly that opportunities to serve the church and those in need are essential contexts for the discipleship of any believer. They are the same spaces Jesus created for his first followers to be stretched, challenged, formed in his likeness, and drawn into his mission to seek and save the lost. The Kingdom investment you have made has eternal impact, especially when joined with the giving and talents of our whole body!

Very grateful to serve alongside you,

Wendy Powell
