CTK Pre Easter Clean Up

CTK Pre Easter Clean Up

In preparation for Easter our facilities team and volunteers typically do a general building cleanup day. (This includes jobs like carpet cleaning, vacuuming, trash pick up, wall cleaning, etc.) However, this season has been a bit harder on CTK staff. Many of you may not know that our Facilities Director, Kevin is married to Pastor Angel. And our sweet sister Angel has recently been diagnosed with cancer. To help shoulder the weight of this we'd love for our CTK Response Team volunteers to help bridge the gap for the pre Easter CTK Cleanup. Interested in volunteering? Please sign up below. Any questions please reach out to JordynMae, CTK Operations Coordinator. Thanks so much for stepping forward to fill this gap, friends! We are grateful for you!

This project is now full. No additional volunteers needed. Thank you!

Lighthouse Mission Project at New Facility Building

Lighthouse Mission Project at New Facility Building

One of our biggest projects this season is for the Lighthouse Mission so bring a friend, co-worker, family member to help! Their facilities team is stretched pretty thin with the build of their new facility so the grounds-keeping maintenance at the other four Holly Street locations is hard to keep up with. We've committed to significantly cutting back weeds, vines, and junk in their lot at F and Astor, the adjacent building, and fresh bark around the Agape home for women and children. This is a classic case of many hands make light work so we need 25 CTK'ers to see how much of a dumpster we can fill to get this neighborhood looking great for guests and neighbors alike! (Ages 14 and up-please register each person coming so we have lunch for everybody!)

Partner Furniture Move Sign Up

We are excited to invite you to this unique service opportunity. A local business has recently closed its physical office space and reached out to us to help re-distribute the office furniture and supplies to local nonprofits. We are so happy that businesses think of us in times like this and that we are able to play the role of connecting local businesses with nonprofits and providing needed resources. So cool! This is where you come in! We need able-bodied movers, furniture disassemblers, and light-lifting volunteers to help load our delivery trucks. We will be providing the vehicles and drivers. Can you offer your time and abilities to join us and make a huge difference for many of our community partners and the people they serve?

Overflow Shelter New Volunteer Training

Our economy, job market, cost of living, housing market, childcare shortage, and mental health crisis...all of these big issues are forcing more and more people and families onto the streets of our community.  Don't stand by in despair or frustration...be part of the solution!  Again this winter, CTK will be hosting a winter shelter for up to 40 men who need a warm place to sleep between Dec 1 - Feb 28.  Year after year, volunteers tell us how thankful they are to have participated, to have their perspective shaped by experience, and to be part of making a life-and-death difference for some of the most vulnerable in Whatcom County.  We make sure you are well-equipped and comfortable serving at the shelter by asking that you:

  1. Complete an interest form that helps us get to know you and your skills and experience.

  2. Attend a team orientation on Sunday, November 20th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the shelter OR online on Wednesday, November 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
